What valve springs are you running with your lt4 hotcam
Getting my parts ordered for an lt4 hotcam install this weekend. I can't decide on springs. Lt4 springs are supposed to work but are rated for .525 lift. With 1.6 RR I should bet a calculated .525 lift per specs. I like a little play room. I was thinking .600 lift springs. What are you running?

i ahve patriot gold extreme springs, but those came with my heads when i ordered the le2 package, they work great, and i have a more aggressive cam then the hotcam, plus it will leave room for a bigger cam if you decide to ever go bigger

I have the LT4 springs and shift at 6k with 1/2 turn of lifter preload, no problems. I'd like to spin it to 6200 but have not tried it yet. I am considering getting better springs over the winter. This link has actual measured LT4 spring coil bind height, http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/lt1-...height-693627/

IMHO - Do not do it
The LT4 valve retainers are the weak point of the LT4 Hotcam kit.
I had one drop (about 4 years ago) and after that, on this site actually, I found a couple threads detailing this as a known issue - so use the cam, and even the springs (I just upgraded to baby Beehives - 105lbs closed / 1.800" vs. 90lbs for the springs in the LT4 kit) if you want, but upgrade the retainers and locks - I went with the Comp Cams stuff...
My $0.02

I ended up swapping out the LT4 springs for a set of PAC 1212X springs that they market as LT4 spring replacements. I reused all the stock hardware. My engine likes the increased spring pressure as it runs crisper at all rpms.
