Default What is infront of my crank timing gear?

It looks like some type of wheel for the crank position sensor. How do I get it off. Is it safe to just pull it with a 3 jaw puller. I need to remove it to change my timing set.

If your car is a 96-97 thats the 4X wheel for the crank position sensor. It should come right off and shouldn't require a 3 jaw puller. If you can get the puller on it just be easy with it it won't require much, it would probably be easier to just pull the gear and the wheel will come with it.

*EDIT* just noticed you have 2 threads on this and I'm a little late!
