Default towing with lt1

i have a jeep cj7 that i installed a lt1 5.7 auto from a roadmaster that i use to tow around trailers and a use as daily driver.. The weird thing is i can get 11 mpg just driving to work and were ever but when i drive with a large trailer i get 20mpg... at the swap meets we all try to figure out what gives as it been doing that for the 10 years i have done the conversion.. gearing is 4.56 with built 4l60e..there are no overdrive problems or anything. all i can think is driving habbit ... what do you think?

Not something I would complain about but maybe you have some sort of perpetual motion device.

Almost has to be something screwedup in the tuning combined with driving habits.

Could it be that when you're towing youre driving further and less inclined to be a lead foot? Example: all highway driving vs. Around town everyday stuff?

Expect a phone call from an oil company representative, the Department of Energy, and the ghost of Billy Mays.

How about some details on your driving habits. How you accelerate, cruising speed, etc., for each situation.

Could the shift points be off? maybe it is shifting to early when hooked to a trailer it drags the shifts out longer.

How does that tow with that short wheel base?

Are you comparing all city driving to work to towing with a trailer on the highway?
