Did you replace with another in-tank unit? Stock replacement from auto zone or another store? You didn't replace anything at the fuel rail correct? If it starts at all - I can't imagine why it doesn't start on first attempt except weak fuel pump.

Check the fuel pressure? Check the regulator? Check pickup hose is the correct type with no holes in it?

Check Craigslist under "camaro shop" there is a guy in mt.olive Illinois who knows LT's inside and out. Plus he is cheap and negotiates with you on price give him a call or pm me and ill give you his # he has done a lot of work for me. Also while I'm on here did you check the ground for the pump? I replaced mine and was kinda doing the same thing except it would turn itself off after about a mile of driving. Turned out the ground was trashed. Maybe yours is gunked up.

Sounds like fuel is bleeding back through a leak in the pump somewhere. Was it just a pump replacement or the whole pickup/pump assembly? I've seen many people change the pump and not tighten the clamps enough.

Yeah first time I changed the pump I didnt tighten the clamps on that hose enough and the fuel was bleeding back. Went back and tightened them up a lot more and works fine
