Default Coupler/Bellows for WS6 intake?

I bought a used WS6 ram air intake for my '95, but it doesn't have the bellows to attach to the MAF or throttle body. SLP sells new bellows for $65 bucks, which seems pretty stiff.

Did some research, but all I could find was stuff for LS cars, which of course have a circular throttle body. Has anybody run into this with an LT car?

Honestly you can go to the hardware store, Menards, Lowes, whatever and grab a couple pipe couplings and use that. I believe you need a 4.5" coupler for the TB with a reducer to 3.5"? I'm pretty sure that's what mine is and I also used 3.5" O.D. PVC pipe for a spacer.

You need a standard 3" pipe size Fernco sewer pipe coupler with two band clamps - that's it.

Put the coupler in boiling water to soften it up and it will slip easily over the throttle body.

What about between the MAF and the airbox? On the Suncoast air box I have, there is a rubber insert in the end of the airbox opening to seal to the MAF. The OEM airbox I have doesn't have one anymore. The Fernco looks to thick to use in that location, but I could be wrong.

I have read about fernco couplers and thats kind of what I was leaning towards for the TB/MAF connector. Are those "cut to length" at the store, or do they come in different sizes? If so, what length would be needed?
(
EDIT: Just found on another thread the part number for the fernco piece. Fernco coupler #1056-33. (It's 3" in length, 3" in diameter) Just thought I'd throw that number in here for anybody searching in the future. They're $7.99 on ebay. Do you recall if that's what you're running on your intake joe?

Also wondering about the MAF to airbox connection still.

You could get a coupler designed for it instead of a piece made for sewer pipe.

What's with the chubby waist? Looks like your throttle body has a muffin top. For $18+ shipping I'll pass.

$5 at the hardware store. Nyea.

Fernco all the way, been on my car for at least 14 years with no problems.

Watch what you say about the Fernco on LS1LT1.com though, you'll get banned. Ask me how I know...

I have the Suncoast box also, my situation might be different since I have a '93 with no MAF, but I used some PVC pipe and put that rubber gasket around the pipe and inserted it into the air box, then just used a worm clamp on the box.

I probably didn't explain it too well but I will post pics of mine tonight or tomorrow morning if that helps.

Here's the order of my setup though. throttle body, coupler, PVC pipe, gasket, airbox. Has worked good for me for 4 years.

I've got the gasket with my Suncoast box. I also have a GM WS6 box for another car and no gasket for it.

Oh I see what you're saying, If you happen to have a stock non-ws6 intake box, that same gasket is on there also I believe? I think I had to use that on mine also but I can't remember.

Alright, here's an update. I picked up the 3" fernco connector. I got it on to the throttle body without having to heat it up at all. MAF fits into it fine. However, it goes "straight" into the radiator. I was able to bend it up a little to slip the MAF above the radiator, but with the factory radiator cover, it's out of the question. I'm running a suncoast airbox, so maybe that has something to do with how it's all fitting together.

The OEM and SLP ones "bend up" as seen here: http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/ca...nts/Air-Boxes/

Looks like I might be spending $60 on a 4" long piece of silicone

Also, is anyone running MAF extensions? I can get my connector to clip in but the wires are kind of tight for my liking.

I would rather have something engineered to flex when the engine torques over something out of home depot.

If your engine flexes THAT much where it's going to pull out of the MAF or throttle body you *might* want to get some new motor mounts or something. I've had mine on there for TWELVE YEARS and never once has it popped off.

Either that or you've got WAY too many horsepowers.

Let's continue to split hairs, shall we?

Lol, maybe my last post was worded a little poorly. Im not worried about the silicone coupler/"bellows" coming off, I am worried about how tight the MAF wires are pulled where it plugs into the harness (they're at their absolute limit). I also have to run my MAF a little cockeyed in order to even plug it in and don't like the looks of it (that's just cosmetic, however).

*EDIT* After re-reading, I assume you were responding to speed demon lol.
