Default How do you full polish an lt1 intake manifold?

Anyone got a write up, or is willing to share a good method on putting a full mirror polish on a lt1 intake? I do paint/body and i know how to polish metals to some degree, but have never tackled something like this from the rough cast state to a full smooth shine.

I know it will be excruciating labor lol, but i just might be game

Capitalizing the word polish changes its meaning, Polish is what you would call someone from Poland.

I would just sand it down and get it ceramic coated.

LOL

To the OP, polishing the whole thing is quite the task...unless you are looking for a winter project. If not, ceramic coating looks impressive. Search the board, there are pics floating around here somewhere.

Pulled the intake which is surprisingly very clean inside polished the fins up real nice and gave the entire thing a once over with the wire wheel to semi smooth it for paint. It would definitely be a chore polishing the whole thing but not too bad honestly.. Just lots of time. Not worth it! Ceramic coating looks almost on par anyway.

My orange & polished fins will look better on the 30th ann anyway

BUT OH YEAH, HOW THE FUUUUUUCK ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO OPEN UP THE INTAKE HOLES TO 58mm SO EASILY? Everybodys like yah i did mine with a drill, oh i used a dremel... Bullshit ive been going at this thing for hours and its painstakingly slow. I have the biggest baddest dremel, and a compressor with 4 different air grinders and have tried several stones, wire wheels, porting and deburring bits ect and everything fails.

I have nice cobalt drill bits im going to go try w the drill and see what happens.. But seriously... Anybody... What am i missing here?

I did mine in a couple hours.. I used a compressor and a porting tool. Opening the runners is what took the most time!

I would consider not doing this unless you have ALOT of free time...I did this over winter...You'll need a good dremel, lots of misc sanding wheels and grinding stones, and a whole LOT of sandpaper...if you have the time it looks money...GOOD LUCK!
