Default Stay with cc503 or go with LE h/c?

Alright guys, I've got a 97 z28 with a CAI, throttle body, lt headers, deleted cats, 2800 vig stall, 3.73 gears. My original plan was to do the cc503 cam swap. I ended up pulling the engine so I could put in all new gaskets and just kinda check things out. Now since it's completely torn apart I'm thinking about going with a LE h/c package. My question is would the extra power from LE overshadow my current setup enough to outweigh the cost of the LE setup? And for an added bonus does anyone know If the cc503 would work well with LE's stage one or two heads? If so, I was wanting to keep the cc503 and purchase the head package only. Thanks in advance! -Kyle

How much money are you looking to spend? You'll need to add a dyno tune for the LE heads and cam, with just the cc503 you can probably get a pretty good mail tune. Just a cam swap with the required valvetrain upgrade is going to be close to a grand. These LT1s respond very well to a cam change, maybe this will satisfy you for a while. LLyod would be the one to ask if the 503 will work good with his heads.
The rest of your drivetrain sounds pretty good but you might need a higher stall converter. Being a auto your 10 bolt should handle the added power for a while.

Seeing how the engine is out you're going to have to watch out because next thing you know it will be all apart, and you'll be going 'how the heck did that happen!'

I've already bought the cc503 and supporting valve train, it ran me about $420. Le stage one heads are $900, stage 2 are like $1300 I believe. I'm not looking to build a racecar, it'll be a weekend toy, as I'm only in town once or twice a month. The motor is completely tore down already, just can't decide If I want to spend the extra $900 on just heads If the cc503 will work well with them

Le1's seem to be the best bang for the buck. I'd keep the cc503. Depends on ur goals.

The 503 is a great off the shelf cam! They do say this cam works well with stock heads So I don't see why it would not work nicely with a port job......Main thing is having the supporting mods to compliment that setup.

I'm running the cc503 with my CNC ported heads and I'm pleased with the results. Also running 1.7:1 rockers to bump the lift up of the CC503.
