Default Polished LT1 intake manifold

How much work does polishing an intake manifold? Would I be better off taking it to a machine shop and having them polish it? I'm working on creating a more showy engine and I feel a polished intake manifold would look great. Any suggestions on what to do would be appreciated.

If you've got the dozens of hours needed to do it properly and the patience along with the necessary tools (sanding rolls, polishing compound, buffing wheel, Dremel with attachments, etc.) then go for it.

Or you could just have it coated. Looks almost as good.

It would take Alot of work. If you were to try to polish the entire intake id bet it would take a solid week of sanding/polishing. To get a perfect finish youd have to sand down the rough cast until smooth then go at it. and thats before you even start polishing! I sandblasted mine and cleared over it. Came out great.

Still need to sand off all the castfinish. Ya you can tumble it with fine shot in a machine and it will somewhat shine. but its not gonna be a true "polished" look.

Looks great Justin. They looks awesome when done. LOTS Of work goes into it. The few I did I charged $500 for and don't think it was enough.

I've got a spare intake manifold laying around that I just had sand blasted/cleaned. If I knew how to polish a lot better (I've done some stuff by hand) I'd be tempted to have that as a side project.
