depends...if its a quality stall or cheap jegs unit, makes a big difference.

FWIW a guy on performance trucks had a ss4000 stall in his N/A setup...went turbo, then swapped to the ss3600 stall....he was running mid 9's in an S10...

Hope this helps.

That would be rather high (4000) but it will depend on his set up.... it will need to be one radical combo to need that much stall..
If it is a street set up I am willing to bet 2800-3200 will suffice.....Be sure to tell the converter manufacturer it is for a Turbo set up so it can be built accordingly

Not nearly enough information to make an accurate suggestion.

However I run a 4000 in my car and drive it on the street all the time without a problem.

There is a lot more to a good converter other than the stall speed. Best the thing to do is call a reputable company and talk with them about your setup.

Everything said sofar is right but I would just add that stall is dependent on the input and vehicle weight. If he has an NA car with a 4000 stall and then tries to put a turbo on the car it is likely to push the stall through the roof and be completely wrong. So like so many other questions the answer is "it depends". If it is a car meant to rev 7000rpm with a big turbo that needs some rpm to get spooled up and the stall was built for such a setup then it could be great.

Absolutely and there is NOTHING wrong with that being NA however one must take into consideration the RPM in which full boost is applied. Depends on many factors but most normal set ups have boost coming around 2500-3000 so like caprice says your 4000 stall can actually be overpowered by the amount of TQ created by that BOOST level and actually cause that 4000 stall to actually stall much higher like 5500-6000 for instance. At that point BOOST is being soaked up by the converter.
RESEARCH and conversation with Precision Industries, CIRCLE D etc. will help you immensely plus save you money.
