Default Should the knock module be loose?

I'm talking about inside the white plastic casing. Got my PCM back today, poor mail man in this storm. So I decided to put in the lt4 knock module I had from my other pcm from the old camaro before installing it tomorrow hopefully. Noticed it had some give to it (it rattled) unlike the other, stock one. Worst case what happens with a non functioning module? Pulls back the timing some?

Is the rattle loose enough for the contacts to stop making contact? If so I wouldn't use it. Probably wouldn't run with no module.
