Elaborate more. What temps are you seeing? Without knowing that, what you describe is normal operation.

Unfortunately this is normal, your only option is to put a 160* stat in there and have the fans tuned to kick on at a lower temp

You can hook up the second fan to a manual switch. something must be affecting the coolant flow. How do the fins look in the radiator?

Maybe water pump is going bad

Sounds pretty normal for mine as well. I just got the 160 thermostat and got the slp plug n play fan switch. Still sounds a bit excessive for the high end. Sure its gettin that hot? Just curious.

Clean between the condenser and radiator, see if that helps. Make certain there is no air in the system too. How does the radiator look inside? Replacement necessary? Dont over-look the radiator cap. Replacement is fairly cheap insurance too. Also, I had a similar issue with a 1993 Z28. Turned out the owner had the wrong 160 thermostat from autozone. It looked like a standard issue 160 from Stant, whereas the LT-1's require a specific type to avoid incorrect circulation....he bought a water pump and radiator for nothing!!!
