Default Cooling system question?

With my turbo build i have already made some adjustments to the cooling system and one of them is a Griffin radiator (55241-X)i know its a commonly used radiator on these cars when you stand the radiator up which im doing but here is my question-

The 1/2inch hose that runs from the driver side of the water pump to the lower side of the radiator is that really needed? Will it cause any cooling issues if not ran?

The reason i ask is i know the radiator does not have the bung for it and will have to be added but if i can get away with out it i will take the water pump housing and have that hole closed off.

Thanks in advance.

I did an lsx conversion and I just plugged it off. I don't know why the lt1 has that extra line. I'm assuming you can just cap it off at the water pump.

I have done a LSx conversion on my other car and i plugged the hole also, but im wondering if this will cause issues with a car putting 6-700WHP and stay cool on the street.

It was probably another type of bypass for the stock pump. Maybe to keep the pressure in the system down at higher rpms. Not 100% sure what you are talking about post a picture for a little help.

The only lines you need to keep 100% are the lines on the top of the engine to help reduce the air pockets.

It is an oil cooler bypass line and is not necessary at all.

Thanks man, looks like it will be getting deleted.

So i milled 1/8 off the housing where it bolts to the block, added a CSR pump and took off the allingment tabs and now will be closing off the 1/2in hole.. No just replacing a water pump after this huh lol

You can close it off using a brass freeze plug if you dont want to have it welded. I did this and it's working great and looks clean, some people Ive seen use hose and bolt plugging it with a clamp but that probably won't last long.
