Default What Catback is this on my 97 SS ? (Pic)

I have never seen my LT1 SS in person, I bought it before I deployed to Afghanistan off of eBay. The Sticker on the door says that my SS came equipped with the "performance exhaust". It isn't a 2OTL obviously and so I thought it was the SLP "Dual/Dual" that late 97 year model SS cars came with (But there are no resonators just before the tips) like the ones I have seen in other pictures. This system looks welded and damn that looks like some rust on the welds and I-pipe. I thought the D/D was stainless? Tips look like D/D though. Your thoughts? My next mod is a Center Mount. Considering replacing the catback though beforehand if this isn't a legit SLP D/D.

Also is that an aftermarket Panhard bar? I am the third owner of the vehicle. 1st owner drove it from 97 - 04 and put 69K on the Odometer. 2nd owner was a collector and put less than 1K from 04 - 12. Only modifications on the car was a drop in K&N from what the 2nd owner told me.

Looks like my SLP Dual/Dual on my 2000 SS. And yes that is defiantly a aftermarket panhard. Stock suspension should be black stamped Steel.

Add more to the dual dual slp vote. The four welds on the case is a dead give away for a slp muffler.

The muffler looks right, and the tips, but my 97 SS has some resonator-looking doodads between the two.

So in 1997, one could order the "Performance exhaust option" with either the 2OTL, the Dual/Dual with Resonators just before the tips (I believe this is standard on the LT4 Cars), or the plain old "Dual/Dual" as pictured above.

I have never seen another LT1 SS with the plain old D/D which has lead me to assume that this is not the original Catback? The internet and search function is filled with misinformation on these Catbacks for the LT1 SS cars making it hard to tell.

Well since my car is up in the air right now I was able to snap a quick one.

Sorry for the rust, but as you can see from my sig the miles are up there.

Don't think so. I believe the LT1 SS only had the 2OTL as their performance exhaust option.

I know for a fact that late in the Model year the SLP 2OTL was discontinued for the Dual/Dual. However, every example I have ever seen of this had resonators just before the tips like the example above. I don't know what # my 30th SS is, but I do know that my overall SS # is 2045 making it in the later 1/3 of the cars produced.

I know that not all slp dual/dual systems had the resonators. Mine came with the perf exhaust option, but it had an SLP loudmouth 1 on it by the time I got it so I'm not sure which system it had.
