Default Another successful 24x swap.

Finally got around to installing my 24x system. Had I known it was going to be as trouble free as the swap was I would have repined it long ago. I've had the kit for over a year and I let dreading the wiring keep me from getting it done. Car runs awesome now. Its nice to know that a opti spark will no longer make me wanna push my car off a cliff. Now i just have to get it tuned. Has anyone ever just used an existing ls1 tune that has similar build characteristics As a baseline?

Had considered the 24x swap but it wasn't in the budget at the time. But from what I've learned reading about it you can't tune the LTX the same as an LSX. Do you have mods or are you stock?

Anyone that can tune ls cars can tune a 24x car. I swapped about a year ago and have had no problems since. I actually love my car again.

I run the conversion as well. It's well worth having an LS management system.

Motor is a all forged 355 with a cam that advanced inductions cut for me. The heads are stock castings that I ported a set of runners like I wanted and had my boss set them up on the cnc and digitize them and let the cnc do most of the rest for me. I converted them to 8mm valve stems and am running the valve train out of a set of afr competition heads. Heads are 182 CC runner and flowed 280 cfm at .600. I put it on our engine dyno at work just to break it in and make sure it was leak free. I had a out of the box victor junior and a 750 Holley on it and 34 deg of timing it made 495 HP at 6600 and 455 ft lbs at 4800 on 93 octane with 11.3:1 compression. That should be a decent run down of what its made of.

Yea they are a bit more loveable without a opti. I'm in the process now of driving it with the wideband trying to get my cruise and tip in up to around 2/3 throttle dailed in. Anything below 35 MPH with half throttle or more just wants to incinerate my tires with this stall and 4.11s.

Was the carb setup just for testing or is that the setup? Do you mind sharing some of the cam specs. It's nice to see a small head make that much power!!!

Carb was just a 750 HP holley that belonged on a customers engine that was in for a freshen up at the time i had mine on the dyno. I didnt take the bowls off and change jets, just adjusted idle. It was fairly close on on air fuel numbers so i didnt bother his jetting. I only put 5 pulls on it to get the rings sealed up and check overall fitness of the engine. I wish i had a ported intake. The Vic junior was terrible small in box stock form. I believe with tuning and a ported intake the combo would have easily made 520 hp. However on my LT1 intake i cut the top off of it in the bandsaw where i could really shape the runner entrances like i wanted them and ported the whole intake and welded the top back on. I dont know if its the characteristics of the short runner intake but the motor acts like it wants to be turned well over 7K which is where i have it limited at the moment. It just acts like a freak combo considering how small the heads and cam are. I dont know if AI would like me giving out exact cam specs but its around 22X/23X at .050 with a .613 lift.

Motor is in the car. Been in it for awhile. Just been fighting opti woes. So I just got around to getting it back running with the efi connection goodies.

Thanks, doesn't sound too bad I might have to give this a try soon. I think my new motor is going to want to rev past the limits of the stock computer.

Thats about what mine cost at first but after i sold off my working delco opti, coil, icm, wires, pcm, and harness i was in the area of 5-600 which you cant go wrong with if you source your parts and build your own harness.

Yea I'm going to have a msd opti forsale before to long. Just have to send it back to msd for repairs. I got my coils off of eBay for 150 bucks and the rest came from efi.

24x was worth every penny in my opinion. I had the diy harness at first but had some probs with it so i ended up buying the efi connection harness... problem free ever since.
