Default Small heads on built 383 bottom end?

So my current stock bottom ended engine with LE cam and EB Porting heads needs to come out due to excessive blowby. I can't spin above 4500 without smoking, it pushes oil and it puffs at idle. So I already have a 4-bolt block, Scat Pro-comp stroker I-beams, and Scat crank for a 383 build, I just need pistons/rings and the machine work. I was planning on going with LE fully ported 21* Trickflows and custom 242/248 cam and 13.7 or so compression on E85. However, my tax return is now saying otherwise, so just bottom end with said cam and current heads it is for now so I can get to driving this thing again!

My question is how will this thing run if I wait another year on the heads and just run my small runner EB Porting 185cc heads on this 383 bottom end?

You won't get much of an answer without sharing the specs on that LE cam.
The "EB Porting" doesn't tell much about the heads either, unless I'm just out of the loop...
I could see that 13.7 CR being a problem with a small cam.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-m...ock-heads.html

This engine is a 385ci with stock heads that was run on the dyno.

I had planned on putting the NEW LE cam in the 383, which is a 242/248 spec'd for the TFS heads that I plan on getting later.

I ran a set of GTP ported OE castings (188cc intake runner) on my 396 until I switched to the AFR 227s

Car made 422/447 with a 222/228 .544/.538 112 through a t56 and 10bolt ran 11.3@116 with the 700r4 and 12bolt. Switched to a 246/254 .613/590 112 and the car picked up .2 in the 1/4. It was only on the bottle that I felt that I maxed the heads out. Would add jet size and not pick up any more power. Switched to the AFRs and picked up 100HP on the same .082 jet .

Correct me if I am wrong but EB stands for Eric Bradby (IIRC) and was a very respected head porter.

Cam the new motor for the heads you have and let her eat

Yeah they're Eric Bradby heads, found them on CZ28.com a few years ago when doing a heads/cam build, 185cc ports, 52cc chambers. I figured I would go ahead and put in the cam spec'd for the Trickflows when I build up the new shortblock that way onceI get the heads all I have to do is a head (maybe intake also) swap, that way I dont have to get back into the engine and then take advantage of the cam.

as easy as a cam is to change I would still run a cam for the heads you have and change it when you do the heads.

At time I wish I still had my old LT1 castings...they performed very well. With a bit more time in that combo I think it would have gone high 9s

Car was still daily driven at that point.
