i didn't watch the episode, but from what i red they did it on the salt flats? if thats so that would be the loss of speed, its okay though we all know what these ol lt1s can do

it was on dry, brittle, clay. the resistance on the tires slowed it down. if it was on pavement it would have been more

I turned it on last night and they did a RV challenge.
One had a big building on his car, which Jeremy did.
One had a rocket on top which James did.
Other one had a expanding RV which Richard did.

Its just a copy and they aren't even funny.
Sundays episode of UK had me dying from laughter about the hand brake turns.

i did enjoy the handbrake stories during "the news". the us top gear does copy off of the uk one because their ideas are so funny and good. no car show can compare to uk top gear.

Would kind of improvement would an LT1 see with shorties/mids if it has an CAI and catback to go with them?
Sorry didn't want to start another headers thread...ive researched but there isn't much on these. They look like a mid but are advertised as a shorty.

Edelbrocks are terrible headers. But they're still better than stock. I wouldn't use them.

Thread hijacking aside you could expect CAI/headers/catback to be worth 30-35whp.

It was a high mileage ragged out Lt1 trans am that still did 136 and didnt blow up. I dont really see anything bad about that.

Cars have been factory limited for decades.

If you didn't option for the z-rated tires, f-bodies were speed limited too...at a measly 105mph!

All I was saying is a 95 LT1 can almost go as fast as a brand new Mercedes, BMW or Audi. Haha.

The Trans Am smashed a Suzuki to 88 and back to 0 haha.
Also did a better Rockford Turn.
And our ran a new Camaro SS for 3:34, with a 15 second head start.

I also can not find an episode of them high speed testing a Trans Am.

funny note- edelbrock shorties were on the LT1 bolton record holder back in the day. he eventually started spraying it with a dry shot, and i think it coasted through to a 11.19 after running out of gear waay before the traps. lol

Well the last thing you'd want is for the real Top Gear show to do commentary on a 4th gen f-body. Especially since the Corvette world became so butt hurt after they recently **** on the C5 so badly.

I just assumed that it being a nearly 20 year old LT1 car, one of the previous owners put a set of steeper gears in it which wouldn't allow as high of a top speed. That's a pretty common bolt on on these cars. He did say the speedo was off lol
