Recently got a 1994 z28 took the oil cap off yesterday and really looked at it and noticed inside the valve cover is all sludges up and I want it out! Does anyone know or recommend a good engine flush and thoughts would be good I heard sea foam is good wanna know if anyone used it on their lt1's and how many miles please

Before you put something in your motor that will destroy it, listen to this. Yellow mucus like build up is common in cars that frequently on go on short trips (5 or less miles) or don't reach operating temperature often. If this sounds like you, take the car out on the highway for a decent trip and really step on it.

I had this problem a year ago and i was worried as well, but sure enough.... letting my engine warm up solved the "issue".

True and it's not yellow like mucus it's like black sludge lol I want it out . I also expierience 20psi oil pressure at idle when warm a little lower sometimes

Exactly.

On a side note, 20psi at warm idle is fine;

Oil Pressure (Minimum Hot)

6.0 psig at 1,000 engine RPM

18.0 psig at 2,000 engine RPM

24.0 psig at 4,000 engine RPM

Lol ok good advice . Just is curiosity what did sea foam do to the engines?.. Also well what about seafoam for the intake valves and crap or sea foam for the fuel

I use seafoam in the gas of all of my engines; weedwacker, tractor, my LT1, my mom's 2010 GMC Terrain.

Worked well when I put it in the gas tank. I saw better fuel economy and smoother idle in the LT1.

I personally would never put seafoam in any vacuum of the engine, or oil for that matter.

If there is that much sludge it's better to do nothing (unless you're okay with rebuilding).

I just wanna give this car the best tune up possible . Car has a brand new pump and opti right now along with rebuilt and cleaned throttle body . Want it to run better tho . That's where I got the sea foam idea. So I wanna do sea foam in the gas clear that out how many times should I do in the gas?... Also is sea foam for the I take really bad?... Doesn't it just basically steam clean the intake ports and intake manifold . And last any of you guys have any good methods for these engine to get them to run longer stronger

I put it through all my cars intake and gas tank. The LT1 and the mustang.. Works great, gets all that carbon and deposits everyone's worried about. Just poor very slow if your gonna do this!!

Ive heard people flushing out there engines with diesel fuel or kerosene. Would i ever do that? No. A full rebuild will solve that issue. How is it running that you want it to run 'better' ?

Car runs pretty good I mean ik when I did the tb the I side of the I take had a coating of carbon and I saw under the valve and that concerned me as well . That's why I thought that some seafoam through the vaccum would clean out the intake and I read somewhere about a motor flush called NAPA/MACK'S motor flush run for fifteen mins for heavily sludges engines and dissolves everything?... Guy said as he poured it into the valve cover saw the shiny metal of the head get revealed just by pouring it in and not getting heated and cycled for fifteen mins I don't know lol

On the lt1 no bad expieriences with it in the I take and gas?... Does it idle smoother from the treatment

That sludge is nasty dude! Pull both valvecovers and take pictures, try to scoop as much out by hand or with a non lint rag as you can, then run good synthetic oil (penz platinum, edge, german castrol or mobil 1) and a high capacity oil filter like a k&n and change it every 1000 miles for about 3000 miles and you might be able to salvage it. You can do half a can of sea foam in the oil for about 500 miles, but no more than that or you can wipe your bearings. I would start at least shopping for a used long block, expect to pay around $400, if it turns out that the sludge is holding the engine together.

I don't think that's te cas that the sludge is holding the engine together not sure though . But see why I'm talki g about lol I haven't really driven the car alot at all . What does anyone think about that Mack's motor flush?...
