Default 300rwhp on stock heads and cam?

Can it be done? Ive searched but didn't get any real answers.

I have a 97 SS performance wise pretty much stock, besides a Flowmaster catback.

My goal is 300rwhp with just bolt ons/full exhaust. If you could be so kind to create some sort of list off the parts I would need to obtain this goal.

I know I'll need long tubes, off road y, and at least 4:10's and a sticky set of tires.

I can't do a CAI because of the ram air setup on the SS, but I'd say a CAI for a non SS LT1 wouldn't be much more efficient if any.

I don't mind doing the LT4 intake if it's needed, but would rather not if I do not have to.

I'd say mid to low 13 second ET's could be obtainable at this power level as long as I can get the 60' in the 1.8 range and drive it.

Any help would be appreciated guys.

yes. Check out the lt1 dyno sticky in the lt1 section to give you an idea of what it takes to get you there.

manufacture numbers dont mean much. Are you talking about a lt4? Cus no lt1 came with 300rwhp stock.

Sure it can be done and should run in the 12.5x range.

Well some lt4's weren't painted, my dads 97 ss is 30th anniversary and its an lt4. And has way more power than my 94 z28...and hasn't had a tune up in years.

What number SS is your dads car?

My 96z full bolt on car minus EWP put down 319/336

The 97 hawks were rated at 305 stock. Do long tubes, a better flowing catback than that chokemaster like a magnaflow, valvesprings, 1.6 rockers EWP and a mail order tune and if you are an m6 you'll have 305-320, auto 290-310. I run 12.3 with those parts. Gears don't add hp. And get that lt4 intake idea out of your head completely.

It's not an a LT4 car, it does have a 30 and the Camaro emblem in the seats, but the car is green and not white/orange. I know that 4:10's don't add horsepower, but they do help with my 1/4 mile goal. Thanks for the help so far guys.

Where are you from? Depending on track the SS is known to run mid to high 13's in good conditions. Gears can add power. Just in a linear fashion.
Even with mild heads/cam you should be in the high 300rwhp range given you are smart about the combination. If you are wanting mild then I would go with the LPE 211 cam and their heads/intake with LT headers. Given the race weight you could be in the low 12's/high 11's again, depending on track conditions. You want something more radical then AI or Gallant Technical Performance.

CAI is much more efficient than the restrictive and poorly engineered ram-air setup on the camaro.

It's pretty easy, I put down 294/324 with LTs and a ram air box.
