How to scan a 95 lt1 w/ obd2 port w/ obd1 scanner?
I've got a 95 trans am. Obd1, with a obd2 port. A friend has an obd1 scanner with obd1 (square) hook up. I've found this...
Will this conversion method safely and effectively read and clear DTC's?

Either try that or buy the proper adapter

No, it flashes the SES light. And that's about what I was going to ask. The scanner is a 10 pin obd1 scanner and it has 3 prongs, which on a 10 pin connector would be A,B, and H ports I believe. So this probably won't work. Damn, I mean they just have to make it a wild goose chase to read codes?! I just want to drive to autozone, borrow their scanner and b done. Sheesh.

What, you didn't see the big "shbox.com" in the middle of the pic?
Really, if you are going to work on your own car, you need a scan solution of your own. There are so many cheap options out there.

Which route would u recommend?
I actually borrowed my sisters laptop (I have Mac) (she has windows) and downloaded data master. I opened the program and it looked pretty nice. A friend had a hypertech programmer which I was going to use his connector to the obd2 port, but the plug in the computer was different. I investigated different cables to buy as well, cheapest is about 60 right? How much is the full version of data master?

I don't think you can clear codes with datamaster. If you can it's something I've never figured out lol. But I'm pretty certain you can't IIRC. A lot of people use datamaster to data log then use tunerpro to tune and/or clear codes. You can datalog on tunerpro also.
Also, a heads up in case you or anyone else has this problem, but the converter cable I got from Moates came with a shitty USB cord (the one that plugs from the computer to the serial converter). It would always cut in and out like crazy. I ended up using an extra one lying around my house and now my connections are clear as sunshine.

Does moates have the only option for a cable, I've heard of AKM (or AMK or something like that.) I don't want a cheap that's going to give me problems just wondering if I've only got one option. I'd like to get this ordered tonight.
