When I did mine the dash was out and I had a lot of room, I've done the heater core with the dash in. With the heater core out it may be possible to swap it with the dash in just be kind of a pain. It wasn't all that fun with the dash out. I had to attach the expansion valve to the evap core and put it in the car that way.

Neil, why would you have to attach the Expansion Valve to the EVAP core first? That part is probably the easiest to get to from under the hood near the firewall? Two hex bolts and remove the hp and lp lines and she's out.

It came off that way which was simple enough but for what ever reason wouldn't go back on right. I may have not had the evap core correctly positioned or fastened right causing it to move or some thing. Not sure. The only other pain was putting that stupid bracket on that goes on the back of the compressor, that was kind of a pain.
