Default TCI 3000 or Precision 2400

Hey every one. We are dropping the new LT back into the 97 trans am today and needed some guidance. I have a Precision 2000-2400 stall and a TCI streetfighter 3000-3500 sitting on the floor. The motor is a very mild built 355 LT1 with LT4 hotcam (I will list full mods below) I have never used the TCI convertors so I don’t know how well they run. This is a street/strip car that is not a DD however In the future I might play around with some auto cross so I am leaning on the Precision.

LT1 .030 over
Estimated 10.8 CR
LT4 hot cam kit with 1.6 RR
Long tubes with y pipe
LT1 heads and intake manifold
3.73 gears
K&N intake

I wouldn't waste my time putting that TCI in anything.
If the "Precision" is from Precision Industries, aka Vigilante, then at least it will be decent quality, just not an ideal match for your engine.

That’s how I felt but wanted to hear someone else say it. The precision was the convertor that was in the car when the old motor let go and seemed to work very well.

The lower end had been rebuild and was a good deal. I had the heads cleaned, tested, and surfaced so its not much over stock. If I had did the build I would have went a little higher and with a forged piston.

Only know one person locally that ran a TCI in a 4l60, it was horrible and he swapped it out pretty much immediately.

Haven't heard anything good about them from anyone else. Honestly my "no-name" 3000 stall has been great for years. Plenty of companies make decent convertors and not just the big brands, TCI is just not one of them which is surprising because its such a large company.
