Default ls1 swap

I have a question for u all. I have a 95 transam lt1 with a t56. And I want to put a 99-02 ls1 in it. I'm buying the motor from a salvage yard they have at last 10 ls1 just sitting their in wrecked cars. My question is what all do u have to change to make it work? Or should I just keep the lt1 and just modify it. Thanks guys get back at me with your tips.

Your T-56 won't work with an LSx unless you change the hydraulics, bellhousing, and input shaft. You better have a good amount of funds laying around if you want to do this. I'm partial to the LT1 so I think if you want an LS1, get an LS1 car. The only way i'll stop messing with my LT1 is if parts start getting impossible to obtain, then i'll swap an LS.

I really can't imagine doing this. It would be cheaper and much easier to trade your car in on an LS1 car.

Right basically what everyone else said. I got my t/a with 152k on it and i was like "oh better think about an engine swap, maybe ls1 or a junkyard 6.0." Its alot harder than you think, you would think it would be easy since its the same platform, nope. K member, wiring, the BS associated with the trans. So basically you would need a ls1 from clip basically everything included. A nice bolton/cam/ported head lt1 would be around 400hp (crank or whp depending on parts choices) I mean thats plenty of power for a DD f body, it would be easier getting a ls1 if thats what you want. Theres a reason why they are worth nearly twice an lt1 car in the same condition.

FYI, you can pick up a decent enough LS1 car for $6K-$8K. The T/As are usually higher.

Or just rebuild the old LT1, 400+ horsepower is still a lot of car to handle, even if it's considered slow by todays standards of 500+ hp factory cars. A 400 HP LT1 is plenty reliable if done right. Hell you could spray it if you wanted and make 500+. That's plenty of power for the street.
