Injectors Stuck on????
okay so i have another thread with this problem I have been having with my 94 Firebird Formula. I have changed all kinda stuff and just this morning pulled some stuff apart and found the issue.. Every injector when i turn the key forward pours gas out! except for no.1 and no.3 they stay closed all the time. If I turn the engine to try and start it it seems like the injuctors still spray like they should just keep on dripping the whole time. Except no 1&3 they stay closed at all times? I put the test light on the wiring going to a few injectorz and its bright on one wire and the other its on but not much. Also when the electrical plugs aren't in the injectors will still bleed out. Could this be computer or fuel pressure regulator. I don't think every injector would go bad at the same time. Or how do I go about figuring what exactly is going on. Its been almost 3wks now and I am getting fed up with this thing. But at least seeing this has given me hope on fixing it

Wow, thats cool u got the injectors out to observe them. As long as u have them out take'm to the dealer and have'm tested and cleaned - or find a shop that can do it. As for FPR u can buy a cheap Hobo Fake gauge for 20 bucks: http://www.harborfreight.com/catalog...pressure+gauge. Thats what i use. With ignition ON fuel press should pop to 40+ psi and stay there with key OFF or engine running. Decreasing press means a leak somewhere - not necessarily the pump.
Let us know what happens after to clean and or replace the injectors,

B4 I tried anything else I did a fuel pressure test it was right around 40-41 with keyon engine off. But bled down very quickly. So someone said check valve in the pump so I replaced it. Nothing. So I tried spark side of things. Replaced opti checked icm. Then finally went back to the beginning and checked the injectors by pulling them. That's where I found the pressure is going it is just dumping right thru. But it doesn't seem like all the injectors would die at once. Everyone of them except no.1&3 just pour out those two don't do anything even when cranking. Sound like a regulator to anyone or is it possible that all them died at once? Also they still dump fuel when electrics on them aren't plugged in

Doesn't matter what the pressure is, the injectors should never leak or spray fuel if the connector is off. If 6 out of 8 failed its more likely you had a bad tank of gas that is causing the failure. You could try to find a local shop that does injector cleaning and flow matching but with the mileage you're better off just ordering a new set.

Exactly what I was thinking with the bad fuel. I just hate to spend 300$ on a set of injectors and it was just a 80$ pressure regulator. I did pull the vacuum line from it and there is no fuel in it I am gonna tear the rails down and investigate. Thanks for the input guys

okay the fuel smells more like water than fuel.! HOW do I get the bad gas out so when i put the new injectors in it doesn't kill them. I do have the old fuel pump so I could use that instead of the new one if i have too use the pump, I would rather drain the tank and plug it if possible.?

No when i unplug the wires for them they still dump gas and 3 don't work at all.
What is the factory size injector. I saw a 26 on the one i pulled from the rail. Does that mean 26#hr.?

stock injectors for a 94 are 24lbs/hr. The easiest way to get rid of the fuel is disconnect the line at the fuel rail and get a hose or something to place over it so it doesnt just spray all over the car.
Near the computer will be a single wire connector with a grey, or maybe its red, wire. Jump that wire to the battery positive and it will power the fuel pump. Takes awhile to empty that way, and keep an eye on it so you don't run the tnak dry and burn up the pump

Thanks Guys. I am gonna put my original fuel pump in to drain the tank. So i don't kill my new pump with the garbage thats all thru my fuel system. I pulled all the injectors a min ago and there is like a sandy kinda **** all thru everything. I think the rails may even be plugged and thats y the no1 and 3 weren't working. I will have to drain and fill it a couple times to make sure i get rid of all the junk in there.
-I am gonna get injectors from summit since there about 100 cheaper than autozone. for the accels. what flow rate should I get since they don't have a 24#listed the closest is 26. if I get those will I need a tune or will stock tune run the bigger injectors without an issue?

That difference is to correct for the difference between the flow rating pressure of 43 psi, and the pressure the LT1 uses. Depends on if you want it right, or just want to be able to start it and drive it. Sounds like your looking for the latter. In that case you could still drive it with 30 or 42 lb injectors.

no it def needs to be done right.! I already have a lot of time and money invested in the car, I've seen a bunch of posts about the svo ford injectors. someone says summit has them or you can find them on ebay. which ones do I need that i can plug and it will be as close to factory as possible. I wanna get the better injectors but still have the factory tune useable until i get around to cam and the rest of internal stuff.
