Question 383 engine question.

Guys, a friend of mine in Moscow wants to buy 383 engine for his 3gen Camaro. He wants to get approximatly 420 hp, but he doesn't want to go with the fuel injection way. So carburator is what he wants. I've found this at ebay http://ebay.com/Pages/ViewItem.aspx?...nbcol=0%7Cnull
will this engine really put out 420 hp? The carb i think will be 700cfm, and the intake Air Gap by Edelbrock.

Your posted link is bad.

With such low power goals if he doesn't want fuel injection then I'd say just go with a typical SBC, especially in a 3rd gen. Much bigger aftermarket, more choices, etc.

^ I second that.

400 or 350 sbc will easily do that, and you can have a lot of cheap parts to do it with.

That's not an LT1 so I'm not sure why it's posted in the LT1 section. Oh well.

There is no way that is making 420hp much less at the wheels. It's a rebuilders type motor that just happens to be a stroker. Hydraulic flat tappet cam, stock rockers, crappy heads. That motor has nothing going for it.
