Default Help get my car to start

At my wits end here.....

I went through the no start diagnostics:

http://www.mainstreamtopics.com/foru...rt-diagnostic/

I am getting fuel.

And based on it I should have replaced my opti. I did. No start. I also replaced my coil, ICM (I have spares), coil wire, ICM connector, checked all fuses, made sure everything is plugged in, checked for continuity on wires everywhere and everything is good. My VATS is disabled and bypassed.

But the car cranks and there is no spark (did the spark plug in a spark plug wire test) AND the odd thing that happens is my gauge cluster is reading all kinds of fucked up (only thing I can think that has anything to do with it at this point). It reads stuff like battery volts pegged, 3200 rpm at all times, ASR on (car doesn't have ASR).....

Blah so someone help plox!

check voltage to the opti, would be my first guess to why you don't have spark if it's new or to the coil. Silly question, but everythings plugged back in and all that fun stuff?

my buddy had an lt1 that snapped the timing chain which lead to no spark....it had a replacement timing chain from advance that broke. I assume the car was running at one point? what happened that the car will no longer start?

Minimum stuff connected to get it to start. OPTI / damper / coil / icm / MAP. Yes my opti and coil wires are hot too.

I just parked it one day and it would no longer start. I had been losing guts up top (ignition or fuel break up) though.

Did somebody say free sex?

I would think that you may have an ignition switch problem or a body ground somewhere that is not grounding. Like someone else said, do you have power at the opti? what about all the pins at the pcm? Might have to check it while cranking to confirm.

Sure know how to title a thread for responses.

Wacky gauges are almost always due to either a poor ground or bad computer. Do you know anyone with an LT1 that would let you test the computer? Even if its not the correct tune for your car you can at least put it on acc to see if the gauges behave.

I had a female pin on the opti end of the extension harness get pushed in too far, harness probed fine because the multimeter probes are longer than the male pins on the opti.

My guess is going to be a bad ECM or computer. LT1's have ECM's or PCM's? ? Never owned an LT-1 but ya that was my thoughts.

LMAO ROxy

alright if you have another pcm put it on and check it over.

I would check all the wires above the battery. For the power and ground cables that go on the passenger fenderwell. Make sure they are tight! I have seen these lose and cause no starts, erratic gauges, die outs while cruising.

Do you have a Live read scanner at all?

You are in Waukesha, huh? I have to come down to LMT to pick up my 94 either tonite or tommorow during the day, i could always stop by and lend a hand. I would try looking at the Opti harness. Mine physically looked okay, but if you pulled it the wrong way, the car would die. I replaced it and had no issues.

Have you checked for spark at all?

i've replaced optis before with cheap units that would cause no spark. But i agree that the gauges sound like a funky battery or pcm problem.

I am actually in Elkhorn, not Waukehsa (need to update location).

LMT? The opti harness is fine.

You grounded the plug when you were checking for spark, right? Did you check for spark from the coil?

Yeah I grounded it to one of the metal brake lines. I also checked at the coil. Nothing
