I just bought the Felpro teflon rear main seal at Advance Auto only $20. The rubber one was $22. Totally leak free. The teflon RMS goes on the crank without any lube.

I think it's more of a Teflon seal. From what I understand, GM went to this seal in the 1997 model year, in an effort to cure one of the LT1's numerous oil leak sources. When I installed this seal in my car, I found oil in the screw holes where the seal retainer attaches to the block. I have no idea how oil got in there, but when I reinstalled that part, I put a dab of thread sealer on the bolts, just for insurance....

the 2919 is not the Teflon seal. It is designed for race motors running vacuum pumps

the "teflon" one you note is # 40626 and the rubber seal is 40520

yeah GM switched to the teflon one in 97

I am going with the rubber one.
