Default Went to the track for the first time..EVER

so I went to the track for the first time last night. I'm only 17 and I've never been down the dragstrip. I ran a 14.3 at 93mph (I missed my last shift) mods are in sig. DA was 1870. How'd I do? Could I have been in the 13's if I didn't miss that shift? Overall I had an awesome time and I'll be going back for sure!

Sig should be fixed, if not car is a 97 lt1 M6 with lingenfelter CAI, MAC Mids, stock exhaust with Flowmaster muffler, and Founders LCA's. I was also running on crappy 275 sumitomos. I'll post the timeslip when I get home.

You did far better than my first go with my SS. I think my first pass was a low 15. I was racing my bro-in-law's XR7 and he destroyed me. Pretty embarrassing. What I learned is to NEVER side step a clutch. Don't let anyone ever tell you that's a good idea especially with the f-body diff being made of century old china. You want to simply let the clutch out. I wouldn't recommend riding the clutch out either. That can lead to clutch failure in a hurry. If you are running street tires then just dust them off. Don't do any sort of burnout. The compound has a low temperature tolerance and will turn into greasy goo in no time. Be prepared to break something if you are a habitual track user.

That's a very respectable time for your first trip down the strip. Especially in an M6 car. I'd say it's pretty likely you'd have broken into the 13's if you hadn't missed that shift.

Quartermile time on a botched run doesn't mean much as long as you had fun. Everyone misses a few shifts but the important part is that you got the car out of the hole. I'm curious about your 60ft and 660ft foot on those slippery tires. That's where your money is made.

We need the timeslip and pictures of your ride.

Here is the timeslip and random pictures of the car. My dad also raced his Vette for the first time with me.

GREAT looking car. Looking at your 1000' without a missed shift you probably would have dipped into the 13's. Get your launch right and drop your 60' down to 2 sec flat and you'll be there for sure.

Truth. I missed a 3rd to 4th of all shifts and bent the linkage in the trans not too long after having the car. Fortunately the car was still under warranty, they wouldn't let GM techs touch the T56 so the dealer had a brand new one shipped in and installed.
