94 z-28 security light vats issue i have a security light on in my car so i tested my key pellet at it was 3.366 k ohms and so i bought and made a resister pack and the closest thing i could get to was 3.270k ohms then plugged it in and still a light on. so am i in the ohms ball park for value i was under the impression it is + or - 10% k ohms value or is something else messed up in the system because it runs and drives great.

i cut the white wires so i had enough to plug it in to the purple and white wire harness for clean install. so thats why i dont get why it did not work i have done this on previous cars. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I went and dug up the reference chart for the passkey pellets, it seems that your measurement of the orignal key falls in between the acceptable ranges of codes 9 and 10.
The resistors you uses would work for code 9 but if your module is programmed to to code that could be your problem. I would try changing the resistance to fall within the range of a code 10 pellet and see if that fixes it. If not you would need to acces the theft deterrant module and make sure there isn't a wiring issue between where you installed the resistor and the module. If thats ok check the wiring bewteen the TDM and PCM for a short or open circuit. But the easiest fix would be to have the VATS programmed out of the PCM.

His pellet measurement and resistor chain measurement is not in the range of anything right now. I'd try to get it in range (actually measure the chain after it is made) of 9, then 10 if needed.

could the resisters i bought be causing the problem, i bought 1/4 watt ones do i need the 1/2 watt resister? what resisters do i put together? does anyone know what combo for the 9-10 pellet value range?

1/4 watt should be fine. There is little power in the circuit. Just keep adding resistors together until it measures in range. The reason you measure is because of resistor tolerance variation.
