I'd think a bolt in 8.8 would cost just as much as a bolt in 9inch or 12bolt.

No one makes a bolt in 8.8 for an fbody that Ive ever seen. Most folks have to have them made (one off) or make them themselves. Why not just a moser or strange rear?

How much are the scrap yards wanting for a 12 bolt? Surely can't be that expensive? I understand about budget or lack there of. But I wouldn't think that a 12 bolt could be that expensive? I might be wrong?

Quick Performance makes I think the cheapest 9", I think with a spool it's like 2 grand out the door.

well if someone makes a 8.8 bolt in I would think it would be cheaper than both 12 and 9 inch ... plus they say that the 8.8 is just as good as a 12 bolt. How much do people spend on converting a 8.8?

If you're not an experienced fabricator about halfway through the build you're going to wish you just spent the extra $1000 on a pre-fab proven unit. Your story is not uncommon - most people don't want to spend $2000 on a chunk of iron.

Fact is eventually you're going to pay for it - one way or another.

Which year(s) and make(s) 8.8 rear is the correct width to fit our cars? If someone was selling the torque arm mount to weld to the rear that would be perfect.

I bought my torque arm mount from a guy name Hiltzy on here about a year ago (if I recall correctly). Real nice bracket, actually but needs to be welded together. I want to say it ran me like $50 shipped. You will need to cut the 8.8 axle tubes and size 10 bolt tubes onto the 8.8... there ISN'T a correct width that is just "plug and play".

If you play your cards right, you can get an 8.8 dropped in fairly cheap since 8.8's are a dime a dozen. I'd still take a Ford 9", though.. just the ease in gear swapping is worth it, IMO.

They aren't the only shops that do work out there.. Why bother with the 8.8 if you're going to drop that kind of change? The shop that did my Ford 9" did it INSTALLED (including 10 bolt removal) new disks brakes, moser axles, custom width, the works... all for $1,200 out the door..

You can find cheap(er) alternatives locally, you just need to be proactive and look for them and/or know the right people to talk to.

I love my 8.8. If you can fabricate it yourself. Go for it. If not just go with a plug-in play bullet proof 9". If i didnt decide to build my own, I would have gone with a midwest fabricated 9"

Quick Reply: Anyone make a bolt in 8.8?
