Default Bad fuel mileage.

My car is getting maybe 13-14 mpg in town and maybe 17 on the highway. When i got the car i was getting mid 20s on highway and 17-19 in town. It seems to run rich. Any ideas to why?

Is it hard to start after it warms up?

Check the oxygen sensors. I had a 94 formula that got around 10 mpg in the city and after replacing the O2 sensors I was getting around 18 mpg city and well over 20 highway.

What trans? If auto, I'd check your tcc. That could be a problem.

Okay so i looked around. First its a 6-speed. And no its not hard to start after warm. I think ill start with o2's since that seems to be the problem for a lot of people with this problem

Mods are 54mm throttle body, performance tune, borla catback, undrive pulleys. Nothing to major. There is a somewhat fuel/sulfur-type smell coming from exhaust. Didnt smell like that when I bought the car or for a while after i owned it.

If the car smells dirty then IMO there is a good chance the O2 sensors need to be looked at. I feel like that's a big reason why ppl don't get the mileage these cars can get. Lots of guys out there are running head and cam cars and getting over 20 highway. Idk if you know the name but Jordan musser had a 401 with AFR heads and a cc306 cam that made like 465 rwhp back in the day and he was seeing over 20 mpg's. No reason a mostly stock LT1 shouldnt see that as well. Its possible the tune is partly to blame. I had another formula with a terrible tune that got around 10 mpg highway.

Again though I would start with the O2's and go from there.

I would also check the air filter, clean your MAF
