Default Wheres that old article of that guy with the 9 sec. Camaro LT1?

It was red. I remember he was wearing a beanie in the picture I think lol. He did it with like 450 WHP. Anyone remember that or see that car in person? It was insane fast. Just wanted to bookmark the article.

Thanks. Power: "It puts 456 hp at 6,800 rpm and 367 lb-ft of torque at 5,700 rpm to the wheels" - That couldn't be right lol

the car now weighs in at 2,980 pounds and runs 9.93 at 135 mph on a 1.28-second, 60-foot time. You see, horsepower really isn't everything.
Wallace racing basic hp calculator at given weight = Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 541.38 rear wheel HP and 601.53 flywheel HP.
Your HP computed from your vehicle MPH is 528.44 rear wheel HP and 587.16 flywheel HP.

Adding 170 for a raceweight with a driver = Your HP computed from your vehicle ET is 572.26 rear wheel HP and 635.84 flywheel HP.
Your HP computed from your vehicle MPH is 558.59 rear wheel HP and 620.65 flywheel HP.

Depends on how much power you made. HP has everything to do with drag racing. I didn't read the article, but if that car weighed in at ~3000 lbs then it's a crap claim. With these kind of cars the devil is always in the details. Reminds me of the "look at me" threads Bob Cosby used to make in cz28.com kills section stating how fast he took a "bone stock" car to. When asked about weight reduction he'd lose his mind and want to credit his jedi master driving skills.

Yea there is something wrong with that number.

He has better heads and weighs 800lbs more than my car and was only three tenths slower? Sorry but his engine is making more than that, flywheel HP/TQ are somewhere in the 600HP/550TQ range. Probably a bit more, unless he is giving it some juice and not saying anything about it.

With that logic I should make it into 9th. I cannot believe I was thinking and doing this all wrong from the start!

of course the car makes more than 45x whp...give you a clue as to why the dyno numbers are a bit off

Transmission: Replacing the failure-prone 4L60E is a TH350 built by Morris Transmissions (Baton Rouge, Louisiana). It's more than up to the task without the weight penalties and horsepower loss associated with a TH400. The converter is a BTE 5,500-stall unit and a TCI trans shield covers everything up.

WGAF what the dyno said the proof is in the ET/MPH

P.S. my AFR headed 396 only made 380whp on the dyno NA yet runs 125+ in the 1/4
