Default Help me solve my camshaft mystery

This came out of the "built" lt4 that came in my parts donor. Also had a vortech ttrim blower on it. I have zero specs on the cam other than what you see in the picture. I'm assuming the 114 is LSA, but your guess is as good as mine on the rest of this jiborish. I measured the lift, and IIRC, it came out to .550 or .560 with a 1.6 rocker. The base circle was bigger than stock as well. It looks to be a stock cast blank, not billet or anything trick as far as that goes.

Any ideas? Id really like to have the specs on this thing.

It looks like the markings indicate lobe lift,.344 x 1.6 =.550 lift and the hr 114 would indicate hydraulic roller 114 lobe sep as you thought. but I see nothing to indicate duration figures. but will admit I am not an expert on this it's just an educated guess. maybe an expert on here will show up and explain what were missing.

Send that pic over to elliot portworks, and comp, hell even crane. Plenty of techs to figure it out?

Could you type those numbers out for us? kinda hard to be sure of them with the reflections on the pic.
It almost looks like Comp QXI lobes, which are more aggressive than XFI lobes.
If I'm guessing the pic correctly, it would be 217/221/114+? and .563/.569 lift with 1.5's

I agree with Pat on the Comp lobe. The 3441/3443 if it's a S lobe'
227/239 .560/.578 on a 114 with a 1.6 rocker

You're exactly right; I was thinking of a different series.
Those are the old Comp "S" lobes.
It looks like a typical cam that Combination Motorsports used to sell about 10 years ago when they were in business.

So those numbers are actually lobe ID numbers, from comp cams ? I love learning new things.

Google "Comp cam lobe profiles". There is a PDF with all of them.

You guys are awesome. It says 114+1 over on the right, IIRC.

I found this, http://www.compcams.com/Technical/Ca...obeCatalog.pdf, and the closest I could find was the QXI lobe profiles 13441 and 13443. Any idea what the 1 in front of the number might indicate? According the catalog, duration is 217/221 and lift is .600/.606. Where are you guys getting your more reasonable lift numbers?

The lobe numbers are 3441/3443 not 13441/13443. They're so old they are not even listed. 10-15 years ago maybe.

Definitely sounds like a Cmotorsports/NRP grind. I had a very similar one on a 110LSA in my stock cube build, used Crane 10308 springs and it pulled hard to 6300 where I was shifting since I was scared of the stock high mileage bottom end.

They had a couple stock cube cams that ranged from around 210/218 to around 229/237, and were one of the early companies to start pushing higher lift/lower duration cams to the mainstream instead of the old school huge duration and low lift cams that were popular in the past due to poor quality valvetrain components.

Thanks Puck, good info. It will be going in a fully forged engine with a Vortech T-trim hanging off of it, so I think it will be a decent choice. And it's free/sitting here.
