GM Motives have the best reputation. If you are going to do this yourself then check out the sponsors to see if they have anything you can use. If you are going to have a shop do it, by all means, let them order the gears and rebuild kit. That way if something goes wrong they cannot simply say "well it's the gears you ordered and you're screwed..."

Dont forget you will have to have a retune. That big of a gear change. Will throw off your wot shift points. If I was you I would try find complete rear out of a 6 speed car. Its 3.42 gear and Is a great all round gear. Plus there factory gears and stronger. You van usally pick em up for round $250.

Nope, but I drove my car around for about a year on 2.73 gears and M6. It was absolute hell going up hills.

Hey im having good luck with them. You can find good stock rears. Ive broke 3.73 and 4.10s. Never broke a stock 3.42 gear so far. Of course im a auto tho.

4.10s are way better with the 94+ 6-speed cars. Don't bother with 3.73s.
Remember you have double overdrive. I'm still under 2K RPM at highway speeds.

I went with motives 4.10s from jegs and they were fine until I started beating on them.

I've got 3.73's with an M6, also a conversion car. Parking lots suck at lower speeds, but I like them. They are completely silent, and I'm not exactly nice to them. I went with Motive gears and a Ratech full rebuild kit, both from Summit. Just make sure when you get your rebuild kit that you've got some good USA or Japan-made bearings, not cheap Chinese crap.
