Default another stupid setback!

well I posted this on another thread and I was told to get this fix asap but I thought it was tight enough to not leak but oh well it DOES leak jeje I took the fitting out and it seems I **** the thread on the rad. Im really tired and sick of all this so I was thinking about bypassing the trans cooler on the rad, mount a cooler on front of the ac condensor and call it a day. My question is. Can I just cut the lines coming from the trans and connect them to the oil cooler hoses with plain hose clamps like is shown in the pictures? thanks for the help u guys!

You will always end up blowing off clamps and enjoying the mess that a half *** rig causes.

Do it right, which means new fittings off trans case, pushlok hose up to the cooler and be done. Thats the cheaper method of "right". Otherwise, have someone cut back the hardline, install a flare fitting, flare it, and then run line up to the front cooler.

Dude that fitting in pic #1 is cross-threaded as hell jeje.

Also get yourself a set of line wrenches so you don't strip those fittings.

There is not much pressure on the cooler lines, why would it blow off the "clamps?" Think you meant hoses

Maybe somebody could tell us how to set the preload on the tranny cooler lines.....

FWIW, the Gates PowerClamps might be a possible alternative to the hose clamps and/or crimp collars in this type of field repair situation.

I have seen a few idiots use 3/8 fuel hose and 2 clamps (from the 3rd picture) on each end and not have problems until the atf ate the fuel hose.
IMO that is a bad idea.

I did my trans lines with hose clamps like that too and haven't had any problems but I didn't use those stock garbage *** GM hard lines. I got new lines with barbs and flared them myself.

THIS IS A GREAT IDEA.

-It'll reduce the radiator's heat by putting the transmission heat elsewhere;

-It'll eliminate the possibility of the transmission cooler tank in the radiator from getting a leak and ruining the transmission.

Just make sure you get a plate style cooler, the tube coolers are much less efficient.

For the hoses, you'll need medium pressure hydraulic hose and some hose clamps that's just larger than the hose (don't use clamps too big for the hose).

Dont need a book to identify buffoons on the camaro forums. They continuously run their mouth with assumptions, hearsay and derogatory attacks.

And my car is not fast enough to set the pre-load on the tranny cooler lines.
