it has been about 18 years since I put mine in....but MSD makes a "plug & play" adapter for he LT1's..for 96 it is #8877

check your specific year

otherwise there should be something on shoebox.com to show how to wire it

just the part # I mentioned, which is for a 96. Check with MSD for your specific application if not a 96

Just curious, did you notice a performance improvement with the MSD unit in place?

I noticed they burn up caps and rotors in less than 15K miles.

NA "ignition mods" like this are wasted money and as noted will just cause unnecessary wear to other parts.

An aftermarket ignition was the first thing I did to my car and counts as one of the absolute biggest wastes of money.

Even at mid 11s in a 4200lbs car I haven't found any gain in an aftermarket ignition.

Not happening on my car with more than twice those miles. I don't know where these ideas come from.

That Idea came from personal experience. I have an MSD 6AL that I took back off my camaro because after replacing the the cap and rotor twice due to the center conductor being burnt completely up, I decided it wasnt worth the hassle. the next cap went 40,000 miles and no problem. maybe it was the MSD caps that were the problem? and now you know the rest of the story!

I see. My point is that there are countless people using the box and don't seem to be burning up parts.

I found aftermarket boxes to eat plugs and make plug wires more likely to arc.

Honestly, I haven't had any of those problems at all. Lucky, I guess. I probably wouldn't have it on the car, though, if I did not just have it laying around doing nothing.

I would go a step further and say that the Accell 300+ I put on the car as a spark based rev limiter if anything SLOWED the car .05 at the track. I really don't keep super detailed records, but since it is easy to plug and unplug I have gone back and forth at the track and car seems to run just slightly slower with it hooked up.

Maybe it is worth considering that I have a 96 and the 96 ignition was meant for 100K tuneups and the coil is supposed to be a little hotter.
There was a time when some guys with 95 and earlier were swapping to the 96 coils OEM reliability with aftermarket coil power.

Like Rob I have had zero "problems" with a MSD box. Been on for at least 15-16 years. No abnormal cap wear.

It was an early mod, didn't see any "performance" gain.
