Default Ugh, another one of THESE threads

I Bought a 95 camaro today and since im basically useless when it comes to diff's because I'm only 16 and never cared about drivetrain apart from trannys.
I looked under it and there was grease on the end of the driveshaft going into the diff and its flung all over and is runny in spots. I'm assuming its a seal or something but as I said I'm diff and driveshaft illetrate.

It also doesn't like to start first crank unless I turn the key on and off to prime the fuel pump. Assuming its A fuel pump or valve but hopefully someone can clear it up for me.

It hesitates for a split second if I give it too much gas too quick. Hoping a sensor needs cleaned or something, other suggestions?

I have yet to change any fluids, plugs or filters so hoping all that will eliminate some of this.

Is your Camaro a V6 or V8 model?

Sounds like you need a pinion seal replaced and your fuel pump is bleeding off pressure on startup.

Its the lt1, it smells a little like gas from time to time but I marked that off as just The exhaust but I could be wrong. The fuel pump also whines A little which isnt really noticable unless you listen for it.

Pull the fuel rails, prime the engine and look for a leaking injector.

It is normal to be able to hear the fuel pump in a 4th gen.

You can also pull the vacuum line off the regulator and see if it is leaking there, could be a bad regulator.

Yes. It's normal in most every car actually. A slight whine right before start up is normal.

Check to make sure the regulator is not leaking externally first. My stock reg at 100k started leaking externally out of the body of the regulator. Mine was Uncommon but they do go bad in different ways as the guys have said above.

Every 10 bolt i've ever seen in an f-body has a leaky pinion seal. It's common.

As said, I assume the regulator might be bad and bleeding off fuel pressure.
