Default What's up the expensive intake gasket???

Um what? $27

Of course I am going to get:

Now that I have seen there is such an option the questions must be asked.

Why? What is the difference? Has this ever even been a problem for LT1s???

I've never had an intake manifold issue but I'll be in there next week to replace the lifters and saw that there is a second Felpro option now and I'm scratching my head as to why.

The only problem myself and anyone I know have had with the intake gasket is the back of the manifold leaking where you run a rtv bead across to seal it to the block. Never seen an actual gasket problem that wasn't just flat out install error

A handful of us have had the Felpro gaskets that are paper with the silicon bead around the ports fail and start sucking the bead into the port. I like the OEM style plastic gaskets better. I have used the gray rubber and metal Felpro gaskets from that cheaper kit too and they are fine.

Yeah I've never had any problem with the cheap gasket which is why it was a head scratcher last night to see a second, more expensive option. An option you now tell me has a history of failure, pretty funny.
