Default CC503 Cam

Hey I was going to go with the cam install over the past winter but got laid off from work wasn't expecting that. Anyway I am going with the CC503 cam over this coming winter, I am going with the 1.6 roller rockers, valve springs. The car already has a new optispark installed so do you think I should buy the camkit or not? Here is something else I am thinking about, how big of a job is it to install a cam into one of these cars. By the way it is a 94 Z28. I installed LT's a couple of weeks ago that was a pain big time. And yes I already have a stall, CAI, and as mentioned LT's, with a catback. Here is another thing I am thinking about, I hear a lot of people giving these cams a good name how much of a gain will this came give me?? H/P and 1/4 mile times.

Call Lloyd Elliot or AI and get a custom grind. I've heard good things about the CC503, but better things about custom grinds. You keeping the heads stock?

If you have all the parts you could change the came over a weekend. It took me a week of putzing after work to change mine. You should pick up at least 60 to 70 hp and 6+ mph in the 1/4. I gained 6.5 mph from the hotcam.

I use to run the cc503 cam-only. I dyno'd 330rwhp and I think 335-340rwtq through my automatic with LT's, intake, tune. I thought the cam was great, definitely a solid off-the-shelf option. I forget the exact quarter mile times that I ran but I recall the car trapping 110mph at full weight. That's probably a solid 6-7mph over just bolt-ons.

The installation isn't necessarily hard but it's definitely time consuming. My advice is to take your time, use writeups/guides, and keep everything clean and organized.

If I dyno at 330 h/p I will be more than happy yes I am keeping the stock heads, like I typed earlier I have heard a lot of good things said about the CC503. This will be done over the winter so I will take my time and I do work on cars for a living.. I have a tune now but will send it back to PCM Forless for another tune after the cam swap. Cams really wake up the old LT1's big time wow!!!
