Default Anyone using the 6.75" ATI aluminum damper?

Was thinking of replacing my Fluidamper with this:

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ati-917327/overview/

My question is is this a one piece? It looks like it from the pic. The Fluidamper is a one piece and this is what I'm trying to avoid.

All the ATI pieces I have worked on are two pieces.

That isn't the fbody one. I love mine. Wiggle the pulley off by hand and the opti clears the hub if you need to pull it.

IMHO get the $3 "special" torx bit for the damper bolts for the ATI. ATI direct or places like Summit have them

have had the 6.75" for years now

Thanx guys. I found the right part for the f-bodys.

Can I use the stock hub or do you recommend another?

If you purchased the right one. It should replace both peices. What part number did you get?

I went by this chart:

http://www.atiracing.com/products/da...ts/damserp.htm

Either 917271 or 917272. Not sure what the difference is.

Although I didn't realize there was a steel or aluminum hub.

I think I should give ATI a call.

I run their under-drive version for the LT1 F-body with the aluminum shell to keep weight down. I think it came in at 4-5 lbs lighter than their standard steel version. The crank hub is separate from the inertia/shell assembly so you can remove the balancer easily while leaving the crank hub on.

Call ATI direct and talk to them. They are very helpful, will answer any questions you might have on which part is correct for you and you can order directly from them.

It sounds like a noob question but is there anything to gain from going to a small, lighter balancer? I only have the AC delete pulley and a Turn One aluminum power steering hub and pump.

I'm sure I'll need to swap out the stock alternator pulley for a smaller one as well. Especially since I have the Racetronix fuel pump harness and 255 pump.

There is no power to be had from a lighter balancer.

917271 is with steel hub
917272 is with aluminum hub

Both have the aluminum 6.780" Damper

I would get the steel hub one

claim is 10hp gain using the under drive damper. IMHO for a stock motor there is no "need" for a high $ ATI. Is it a superior damper over stock, yes.

I have the 6.780 one on my 383 BUT the idle speed is a few hundred RPM higher (tune) than stock so I have not experienced any voltage drop output from the alternator in the 10 years I have had the damper on.

Maybe someone running one with stock idle can chime in if it became a problem regarding alternator output....which I assume would, if any, be affected at idle only as at speeds the RPMs would certainly be high enough.
