Default 94 lt1 no spark

Basically have a 94 lt1 a4 123k, died on me in traffic driving home. After getting the car towed home. Fired up and ran for about 10 minutes and died. No spark from coil, replaced icm and swapped coils with 2 good units. About 1500 miles ago I replaced the opti with a cardone reman unit ( I know I know). With key on i can hear the fuel pump running sitting at about 38psi. When cranking I have no spark from coil and no smell of fuel so I'm guessing injectors aren't pulsing...The complete ignition system is new.. Just looking for some opinions on possible problems

Tested all connections
Icm harness
A=system voltage
B=.013-.017 vac
C=54.4ohms
D=system voltage
Opti Harness tested at plug going into opti and where pigtail connects.
A=4.99vdc
B=4.99vdc
C=system voltage
D=101ohms

The resistance going in to the opti is not right and the ac signal is not correct. Car did restart this morning and died after about 10 minutes with no restart. Did all test after the no restart condition.

Readings look ok except for the AC signal. Probably a bad opti. Have you scanned it for codes?

Not yet going to buy a obd1 scan tool today. Will codes still be stored if no ses light? I was getting a random ses light that would stay on for about a minute but I thought it was the pcm going from closed to open loop.

I hate to tell you, but Innova scanners seem to do a terrible job. I have seen more posts with crazy multiple (and probably erroneous) codes from the Innova product. I don't know why. I'd take it back. You can invest in a cable to use with a PC or laptop and get free software to do lots more.

this my sound off from your thought process but if u r getting power to everything untill u turn the ket it could be the nuteral saftey switch. try unpluging the engine harness from ecu for ten mins or so plug it in and try it. if that helps and then it dies again try starting in neutral

ALDL cable is next on my list. Shbox, since the opti sends a signal back to the pcm to fire the coil and pulse injectors. Is it possible to disconnect at the pigtail going to the opti and measure some sort of signal.... while the motor is cranked over if so would it be resistance and what pin?

Here ya go. http://www.ls1lt1.com/forum/lt1-%7C-...optispark.html
My friend and I followed this step-by-step and at the end, with no spark at the plugs, it ended up being the opti.

That's basically the same as shbox's troubleshooting.

The cardone opti I bought died. Swapped with factory opti to confirm. Rockauto is sending a replacement.
Thanks for the help.

New out of the box dead? I am having the same issue. Just swapped a Richporter Technology GM22 Distributor and still a no-start. We went down the checklist and everything else checked out to spec. I think the next step is a scan to see if there are specific trouble codes that may be present.

This happen to me too as well. What I did was I changed the pigtail wiring that goes to the ignition module. ( In my case I would wiggle it around and it would choke the engine) I replaced that and it worked fine. Try that and see what you think. However everyones case is different, it could be something else but it's worth a try.

It wasn't dead out of the box lasted about 1500 miles. I've got the replacement in and its running fine. Although while doing all my testing with my volt meter I did manage to open up the prongs on the icm connector which also gave me a no start condition so watch out for that.

Ok thanks for the heads up. I'll check the icm connection again.
