Who has done a LT1 into a older C4?
How much work is it getting a T56 into a older C4 corvette? The bellhousing bolt pattern has me worried, the upper bolts seem like they would be impossible to get too compared to the bolt pattern of a ZF6.

Only the top centerbolt isnt used I believe rest bolt right up
On the engine swap make life easy on yourself and get a converted LT1 intake call it a day

I am that friend! haha I have an 84' Vette that I swapped an LT1/T-56 into. The swap was a lot easier than I figured it would be. I used a bracket that bolted to the tail of the T-56 so that the T-56 could bolt up to the "C beam" and it worked very well! (Bought online but I don't remember where, it was like $150-$170 I think) I also just recently decided to truly fix the offset shifter problem. The ZF6 shifter is offset to the driver side by around 2" while the T-56 is right in the middle. I bought a used 4+3 shifter bezel and took the shifter I was using in the Vette and welded in 1.5" (Should have done 2") of square tubing and that offset the shifter so it would not hit the bezel anymore. ( I still had the cut the underside of the bezel a little but from above with the cup holder door closed it looks fine.) It takes a little bit of work but I could not find a cheap ZF6 so I went with the cheaper T-56. (Still plenty strong) I used a C4 master cylinder with a C4 hydraulic line with one end threaded like a brake line for the C4 master then I adapted to a T-56 slave style connection. (Weird slip fit fitting that is held in by a roll pin) I swapped a T-56 in my 3rd gen then obviously this 84' C4. I like the T-56, both have been GREAT!

I am currently in the process of dropping the factory 3.07 rear and installing a 3.73 ratio Dana 36 in place of it. It's been in the air for probably a month now. haha So I hope to get it done soon. (I've been insanely busy) With the 3.07's at 1800 rpms I'm doing 90mph in 6th. I cruise in 5th at 60 otherwise if I'm in 6th I feel like I'm lugging the engine down.

yeah i love the car, but the 4+3 just died and the old small block isnt anything impressive. So im thinking about putting my built LT1 drive train in it, Do you have any mods? Im worried about the Dana 36 dying to my Heads/Cam 355 LT1.

nice run man, awesome advice. Man I tell you, the corvette forums are not very insightful. im gona have to agree with you on the 10 bolt thing, My old camaro's 10bolt lasted for ever making 440 at the tires.
After hearing all this, im going to press on and do the swap, and probably upgrade to 3.73 gears in my 36.
I would be happy trapping 115-120 area, my setup is very similar with a LE cam, Trickflow 21* heads, lightly ported intake and a electric water pump.
Are you still using the digital dash? I would like to keep mine, Also what headers are you running?

O I forget, I'm running OBX stainless headers (Ebay $400 when I bought them) into a 92-96 Magnaflow cat-back. THe headers looked identical to the stainless works headers that were like $1,500. These headers were built well and aeven had all the ports cleaned out with no slag in them. I was impressed. If I run across the picture I took of the ports I'll post it. I have no idea where it is though. haha

These

They went up by $100 since I bought them, still way cheaper than ANY other company. I like to buy American made any chance I get but I'm not going to pay $1500 for a set of headers. Plus the extra price for the Corvette tax.... You can buy small block long tube headers for like $150, granted the vette ones are stainless but come on....

you're the MAN on that digital dash swap, LOL best idea I've seen yet. The cbeam adapter guy hasn't been around, those brackets were about 150, not sure anyone is making them. I had these guys saved in my favorites, worth giving them a call.
