I have considered these on the rebuild of mine. My builder is using them on built 3.8L SC cars and from what I gather has done so without issue.

for LT1 application using 11/32 valve stem size:

from what I can find, in terms of size specs, is the 7228 spring will work with the 787 retainer using stock 7 degree locks BUT looks like they need the 4677 locator as its ID is .9 and the ID of the 470 locator (for 918 springs) is .875 leaving .045 (IMHO to much slop) clearance vs the tighter clearance of the 4627 locator. The ID of the 7228 springs is .920

so the part list, for LT1, looks to be:

7228-16 spring
4705-16 retainer
648-16 locks (or stock 7 degree)
4677-16 locator

the 7228 installed height is 1.800"
