LS1 t56
I have a 96 WS6 with a 4l60e that is on its way to the grave. I had considered just rebuilding the 4l60e, but I really miss driving a manual. So I've been looking into doing the t56 swap. I know the basics on all of that. My main question is in using an LS1 t56 on my LT1. The majority of the t56 trannies I am finding are from LS1 cars. Finding a decent LT1 tranny is proving to be difficult. When I tried searching for the answer to this I found a ton of threads about using an LT1 t56 on an LS1 engine (I'm guessing from so many folks doing LSx swaps), but nothing on using the LS1 t56 on an LT1 engine. Am I correct in assuming I would just need to swap an LT1 bellhousing, input shaft, and front plate onto the LS1 tranny similar to doing an LT1 tranny behind an LS1 engine? Thanks for the advice guys

Yes you are correct.
Input shaft
Front plate
Bell housing
Not sure how hard it would be to find but I know the input can be had new but the other 2 might be ebay or forum finds.

You still have to think about pulling the steering column to swap the pedal assembly, cut the fire wall and the transmission tunnel along with the wiring and tuning for the swap.
I've converted a LT1 T56 to LS T56 and my master didn't seem to like it and I've also done a couple LT1 cars from auto to t56.

Oh I know. I've found tons of write ups on it and have been told several times to just sell mine and get a 6-speed car. The problem with that is that I like the car I've got

No need to sell it, the swap will take the better part of a weekend.
My biggest suggestion is to take your time cutting the fire wall and DO NOT leave corners on the cuts cause after awhile you will tear the firewall. Pull the brake master out of the car and take your time.
Me pedals were bent so my master was binding so I made a new mount on the pedal rather then re -cut and drill the firewall.
