Default Transmission question

Working on a 93 firebird. Found a rebuild transmission out of a 95z. The 93 does not have a 700r4 it has electrical connections. Will the 95 trans work.

If you are not changing anything else, no, it won't work. 95s are electronically controlled. A 93 ECM cannot operate it and does not have the wiring for it. 93s, 94s, 95s all have slightly different auto transmissions.

I don't know much about the history of this car.. I see it has a maf. I owned a 93z and it did not have a maf and had a 700r4. Could it be possible that this one has been swapped

The '93 trans does have a 5 pin electrical connection, 94 up has like 15 or so. If it has been swapped, you need to determine the year of the computer, motor to get the correct trans as stated.

Pulled the transmission. It has a 13 pin connector same as the 95 I looked at.

Pulled the reg to see for myself this car is a 94. I was going off what a friend told me it's his car, mechanically things didn't add up. Is it possible to run a 95 trans in a 94 car.

You would need a flash to a 95 tune and an extra wire to the transmission connector for the PWM solenoid (94s did not have this) for converter lockup. As stated before, the transmissions are slightly different.

Not to try to steal this thread but since it's the same topic, can a 97 trans be used with a 95 computer?

I've already completed the swap last night. I was only able to test for a short amount of time. Transmission did shift like its supposed to. Couldn't tell if I had lock up yet. Shbox is their a schematic on your site that shows the pwm wire or pin location. Any idea where I can find a stock 95 bin

you have 3 options if you want to keep this trans.

1. do without lockup
2. reflash the pcm to 95 and run the extra wire from the pcm to the trans.
3. stake the pwm valve open in the valvebody, or install the transgo hd2 kit that disables pwm.

PCM location

I've seen people post links to bins on here before.
