Default Plug Wires

What are you guys with long tubes using for plug wires? I keep burning mine up on the headers.

Put some of this stuff on them http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS-Performan...30487/10002/-1
As long as they aren't laying on the headers, they should be ok.

Look into routing the wires over the valve covers. When I did mine I had to piece together a "kit" but now you can find pre made kits online with looms, custom cut wires, etc. I ran Taylor Spiro Pros and Made For You Looms for SBC ran backwards..Best thing I ever did to keep the wires off the headers and I used black wires/looms to make it look as factory as possible. And I ran the large stepped Kooks LTs. Do a search and you'll probably find lots of pics..Its commonly abbreviated as OTVC wire kits.

Yes they are, but now that I've had to replace about 4 of them with cheapo aftermarkets, it's not so clean looking and I hate it.

Im thinking about doing this kit... but still don't know if I want OTVC

I used a combination of the Jegs wire spreaders. and also their brackets that you can mount to the side of the block. Once we initially got the motor running, I had the number 8 cylinder touching the header and caused a misfire. I just bent the bracket to fit the wires more snug to the block and have not had a problem since then.

Below is a link to Jegs site with what I was talking about:

Over the VC or other after market SBC brackets/looms I am sure would work fine. Anything that keeps them off headers

with that said I have used the stock brackets/looms a a couple of wire sets over the years and have never had a header burning wire issue. I use Magnacore wires and I had a Crane set before that

for your headers if boot ends are vey close you can always get those wire/boot socks noted earlier

yeah routing wires using stock brackets/looms is a PIA but not doing anything will often lead to burnt wires with headers

I really like my ceramic boot accel wires 9038C. Accel w/s says outa stock but summit says they have'm. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ac...t/model/camaro

I used to buy fiberglass sleeving by the 20' roll for cheap from JC whitney but now they sell some $35/roll Mr Gasket stuff. I think the cheapest fiberglass wire sleeve now is the Taylor stuff (3/8"). But u can cut the sleeving to length and slid it over the wire for extra protection.

Good luck.

I used the custom MSD wire kits and ran the wires where I wanted from the bottom along with some heat sleeves and never had issues.

Cheapo Jegs wires, some looms, a few ties, and come very careful routing. Never burnt a wire.
