Default ported heads and le cam opinions

Just want some opinion. I got 96 Trans am lt1 with le cam 228/236 578/574 109 1.6 rr, long tubes, ory , bullet muffler, 3600, 3.73. Best is 7.575@ 89.75.. i have had set heads ported by a well know race engine builder and porter guy in my area.. they flow 260 cfm @ 580 lift now. Wondering what gains I should expect? I know it hard to tell but thought I'd ask. Also what other things should I upgrade injectors, tb etc, thanks for help

Hard to say what it would run just based on cam specs and a peak flow number, as there is much, much more to the story than that.

It's often the case that 2 sets of heads with very similar peak flow #'s will make very different power when bolted onto the same shortblock with the same cam, because every other characteristic about the port design or shape will likely differ to some degree. And that's not even taking into account all of the variables present in the rest of the car.

Bolt it together, get it tuned and let us know what it does.

Your mph is a bit low now, who tuned it? Hard to give an estimate of what you would gain when I dont think you are where you should be with just the cam. What RPM are you shifting at? That cam needs at least 6800rpm for best times, honestly you should be going to 7000.

What brand converter?
What size injectors? valvesprings any good? was that a true wideband dyno tune? what exhaust after the ory?
..a lot of factors that could be holding it back.
Your 1/8 trap and dyno numbers correlate pretty closely if I assume a 3600-3700 lb car+driver weight.

If they have a decent port job on them already Id look somewhere else
Portingon top of someone elses work , most probably not in a hurry or gains if any not worth the $
Perhaps springs as mentioned, converter as you said could be getting slippage

7.575@89.75 is cam only times. I have not put ported heads on yet. Car weighs 3350 with me in it.
