Default Firebird Trans Am vs Challenger SRT-8

My friend has a 2013 or 2014 Dodge Challenger SRT-8 with a 6 speed. I know he makes 470hp. I wanted to know what mods I can do to keep up with him or be passed him. (96 Trans Am A4) He plans on driving from Miami to Las Vegas for EDC in June. I just want to be prepared by then.

Thank You

He makes 470 flywheel HP and weighs 4200lbs empty. runs 12.8 at 115. A decent cam, stall and gears should do it. Cc503 or a custom grind around 226/234, 3600 stall, you'll crush him. I've run them in the 1/4 and crushed them Bolton only, but I'm light. Big fat pig cars with skinny tires.

What brand of the stall should I get for the 3600? I have so far everything planned out with mods. Yes, I plan on getting the CC503 Cam, 3:73 gears, Pacesetter LT headers is already on the way. I plan on running Nos too! I was told that my LT-1 IF DONE correctly can hold 150 shot of Nos. Don't know if it's true. It's a lot considering my engine almost has 155K miles.

NOS is a brand, nitrous is what you mean. Like, get me a Kleenex, I just Googled NOS and need you to Xerox it for me.

Stock lt1 pistons can handle a 150 shot of nitrous if tuned properly. You probably won't need it against a fatass srt8, but it wouldn't hurt.

Vigilante, Yank, Edge, FTI, or Circle D

All will be ~800 price wise.

The SRT8 Challengers are heavy sleds with LT's converter, gears, CAI, and a good tune, i would try him. If you loose throw a CC503 cam in it, than he will be looking at your tailights for sure.

It's just like the term "stall", commonly mis-used, as in "I'm gonna' get me a stall converter"......

It's a "high stall" torque converter, as compared to the "low stall" unit that was OE in your car.

Eh.. automatic 392's run quicker than manuals. They dyno over 400 at the tire too.. 470 is a touch under rated. A stock auto 392 can go 12.5's in good air. They have dipped into the 12.2's stock.

I second the stall/cam/bolt ons. Should be able to edge him out.

When I had my 92 ZR-1 one of those SRT-8 cars tried picking on me...he,he,he... I had headers, a Haibeck prom and of course the LT-5. I beat the hell out of that pig!! You should've witnessed his face at the next light. After that, he was staying next to me with the passengers window down listening to the exhaust note.... I know he was baffled as to how he just got his *** handed to him by "an old C4"....

I agree with this, put a set of drag radials on also. It is not uncommon for those cars to run low 13's also bone stock.
LT's, 3.73's , yank 3600, tune and drag radials. You just may get him.
Go from a dig and make him get that weight moving

Bullshit! not even close.... You aren't even comparing them equally. NOS is a brand; "Stall" isn't. "Stall" is still referring to the change and doesn't refer a particular company. NOS is a brand that sells items related to the injection of nitrous oxide; you can't inject the company and get a result close to injecting actual n2o.

I'm not really sure what's being argued here.....

"Stall" is not the same as "Nos".....
Stall is short for high stall. Nos is a brand. I see no correlation here.

I was simply agreeing with "buffman" about how different terms get misused. He posted a couple of examples, and so did I. Apparently, a couple of people who were not initially involved, decided to jump into the "discussion".....

lol I did a little bit... but still the misuses of the two terms are different. One really is a misuse, saying NOS in front of veteran car guys will get you the , and the other is a shortened slang term.
