Default Kooks Longtube Headers?

Before I purchase a set of kooks longtubes, are they really worth the money? Is there any better options or brands? Any opinions from anyone who has them on their car? I know people have used Pacesetters, but heard bad things about them.

If you want the best fit, quality and material, well, you pay for the best.

ARH does not make headers for LT1 cars.

Honestly Kooks are the best. They will net you the most power and have good plug access and decent clearance. I saw some substaintail gains going to Kooks over my Hooker LT's.

The only downside is that they are expensive. Try to find a set of used ones if you can.

They are as nice as any I've seen. Nicer than most.

I agree guys, you get what you pay for, and kooks seems like the best option for my LT1 build, and top notch quality. And finding some used might be difficult because I don't see why someone would even take them off their car.

Thanks for the responses, gave me some reassurance.

They're a big hit to the wallet, but very nice quality. Mine fit perfectly, good clearances all around. They're also one of the only stainless headers with emissions hookups, if you need that. Mine have been on 3 different cars with both stock and poly motor mounts, and not once did I have a problem. Can't ask for more than that.

I have the Kooks stepped 1 3/4" to 1 7/8", on my 93. They fit awesome and not had a single issue with them. More than can be said for the Stainless Works headers on my C6.

Those are nice headers, I have a friend that runs them on a bolt on 94 Z28 and another on a solid roller 394 97 Z28.

My old man has a set on both his LT1 cars and when you hold a set, you can see why they cost so much. Quality is awesome.

I have Dynatech 1-3/4" on my car and they fit awesome, no moddifying for them to fit. They are spendy as well. Some complaints I have are that they have a removable collector which is exhaust leak central... I can't get them to seal. They are ceramic coated and they look good up top yet but down below where they've seen rain and an oil leak, they look like garabage, which I guess is bound to happen anyway but I would much rather have stainless.

I would like to go with kooks some day when I make my engine bay all clean and neat. Plus stainless just lasts, should be the last headers you buy unless you crumple them up from road debris or coming down hard from a wheeler or something lol.

How much are the kooks now? I've got Jet Hot Lts now and they have quite a but of rust now. About to pull the motor for a new build and don't want to put them back in without at least recoating them.

The last 2 set we've bought were $1k from Maryland speed (1 3/4 with ORY) and $1125 for a stepped setup with ORY. Maryland speed has the best prices I've ever seen on Kooks headers but you have to actually call them because they can't advertise them that low. They might be more now but these were bought in the last few years.

They are absolutely worth it. They go in like butter, and the materials/workmanship are amazing.

I have the Pacesetter 1 3/4 long tubes on my car now with their y pipe. They have seemed to work fine. They have been on the car for about 5-6 years and had roughly 8-10k miles put on them. The coating has started to come off on the bottom of the collectors which made me start to look at a different set. After looking at the quality of the Pacesetter merge I started to look at a different setup as well. I came across a good deal in the for sale section on the Kooks true dual exhaust. I picked up the duals for $800 shipped with the kooks tips cut off. Only thing next I need to buy now are the Kooks stepped 1 3/4 to 1 7/8's headers. I picked up the Panhard relocated setup and safety loop from BMR while they had their Turkey Day sale this weekend. Cheapest I saw was on the Kooks headers were at Tick Performance for $1004.69. I am excited to hear how the true duals sound on a peppy 383. The Pacesetters will be for sale soon with the y pipe. I would probably sell the headers and Y for $200 bucks if anyone is interested. Or the entire exhaust Headers to tips for $500. Including QTP cutout with welded turndown and rocker switch that is mounted in the cigarette ash tray.
