Default Rear end help. New

Ok I am new to a lot of this. But I have a 95 formula Lt1 with I believe a stock rear end.
Do i have a 10 bolt or 12 bolt? What 3.73 gears should I be looking for on the market? Someone has some from a tahoe that he used in his 99 TA for $80?
I guess I need a brief overview of what I need to be looking for.
Is there an installation kit i would need to buy as well?
thanks guys. hate being a newbie

Will used gears from a 12 bolt fit in a 10 bolt?

I am assuming I have a 3 series carrier since I can shift my A4 into 1st, 2nd, and D.

Stock has the same 10-bolt innards as what were being sold in the small pickups (name escapes me now).
You want Motive gears. They are the best. IMO do not buy used gears. You could have them installed and they could make all kinds of noise from an incorrect gear pattern, which could not be corrected. An install kit would probably be a good idea.

12 bolt gears will not fit your 10 bolt, like was said, go with motive gears, they're nice and quiet. If your car has a lot of miles, i'd look at the rebuild kit with Timken bearings, I think it's a little over $100.

12 bolt and 10 bolt are not the same. And a full size tahoe has the 8.5" 10 bolt, an fbody has the 7.5" 10 bolt. S10 blazers and pickups have the same 7.5" 10 bolt.

Like said, go with motives and the install kit. They worked great when I still had a 10 bolt.
