Default CC503 Cam swap with Alex's Parts springs?

Pulled the trigger on the tried and true CC503 for my stock headed car and I was planning on using this spring kit from Alex's Parts.

Anyone see an issue with this kit?

Also, does anyone know if the CC503 will wear out my stock oil pump gear? Should I upgrade while i'm in there?

Looks like the Comp 918s are popular from doing some searching. I think i'll just use them and call it good.

Any advice on swapping the springs? I'll be doing it In-car with the Tims Tool.

I put Alex's springs on my vette, no issues with the springs so far, combo is the LT4 hotcam and a Vortech blower.

You should for sure use a new oil pump drive with the new cam so the gears can break in together. You can get one at any dealer or I like gmpartseast.com. You're going to LOVE your LT1 with a cam in it! Especially with that brick shithouse S60.

Yeah that's what I figured, they aren't too much for a new one so i'll get one.
Sounds like this cam is definitely popular and does a damn good job on the stock heads which is why I jumped on the bandwagon. Yeah that S60 and Stage 3 T-56 is why i'm still on the stock LT1 lol. That sucked up a lot of money but I wanted a bulletproof drivetrain before I started making more power. Now that i'm done with suspension and everything else, it's motor time. And this is only gonna be in here a year or so as i'm building my spare LT1 into a forged 355 with AI heads and cam. Should be done next year sometime.

Your building a 355 that will be done in a year or so AND your still going to cam the current engine? That's a lot of time and money spent for an engine that's about to be pulled out in a year or so imo..

That's exactly what I did. I always though of my stock shortblock as a timebomb and have been dreaming up a fresh build to replace it for a while. Buy some of the less important parts used so when you're done with the current motor you can part it out and get most of the money back.

This LT1 will be going in my 3rd gen when I get the new motor built for this car. I just needed something to tie me over until I get the new motor built. A year is just a guesstimate, it'll probably be a little longer. I don't mind the extra work.

That's basically the other reason. This motor runs good but I don't want to slap a good heads cam combo on it. I want to start fresh with good parts. This cam swap is just isn't getting all brand new parts except for the ones that matter. And I plan on using the motor in my 3rd gen eventually so it's not really wasted time or money since i'll be using it.

Once i found out the Alex spring kit was unavailable when i was just wanting to swap out my LT4 springs the next option was use the same stuff the LE1 heads come with. Comp cams makes a spring kit but its kinda half assed. It comes with heavy thick retainers and just shims for the bottom of the spring which is kind of stupid. The parts listed below are similar but with valve spring locators and better retainers which are more firendly for SA rockers. This is what I was going to buy but decided to go with LE heads instead which comes with that stuff already.

Competition products
Valve Springs: Part# 99893
Retainers: Part# 3437
Locks: Part# 4232

Summit racing
Locators: Part # 4770-16

I thought the LE1s came with Cranes. They should be the same duals in the 10308-1 kit except with different locks/retainers/shims.

Yeah, your right, I meant Crane. Its essentially the 10308-1 kit but just improved with more complete parts. The part numbers that I listed are correct if you want to piece together a valvetrain under .600 lift of course.
